Trip to Massachusetts and Connecticut

Good Morning, Friends!

Katy and I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Massachusetts and Connecticut. We did a lot of sightseeing and gathered a ton of information for future painting reference. Highlights included Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts and Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. In Connecticut, we also met up with the tall ship Amistad at her home port in New Haven.

Old Sturbridge Village is a recreated living community depicting rural and village life in New England in the 1830's. We had a wonderful time speaking with the numerous costumed historic interpreters.

Mystic Seaport is a recreated 1800's fishing community. On our visit to Mystic last August, we didn't spend nearly enough time exploring, so we returned for our second visit in under a year! This time, our visit was much more relaxed, and we were able to spend an entire day exploring.

While in Connecticut, we picked up Katy's daughter, who is a crew member on the tall ship Amistad. The

Amistad had just arrived in its home port of New Haven after sailing south from Nova Scotia and visiting numerous ports along the way including Rockland, Boothbay Harbor, and Portland. We had a wonderful time on the ship. Thanks to the crew for their hospitality and engaging conversation! Another highlight was dinner at Lenny and Joe's Fish Tale restaurant, located on the water in New Haven. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following night for yet another fine meal!

All for now. We are home for a week and a half; then its off to Monhegan Island!

Until next time...
